Oisin’s Mugshot

We’re delighted to announce that children’s book author and illustrator Oisín McGann will read in our children’s section on Saturday the 19th of October at 12.30pm as part of the Baboró  International Arts Festival for Children. Oisin McGann is the author and illustrator of the Forbidden Files, the Mad Grandad series for early readers, The Nightmare Club books (under the pseudonym Annie Graves), The Forbidden Files series, the Armouron series, several fantastic books for children with dyslexia, as well as many excellent stand alone novels for teenagers and young adults.

Born in Dublin in 1973, Oisín McGann spent his childhood there and in Drogheda, County Louth. He studied art at Ballyfermot Senior College and Dún Laoghaire School of Art and Design, and went on to work in illustration, design and film animation. He moved to London in 1998, where he eventually found work as an art director and copy writer for an advertising agency. After three and a half years of advertising, he began to fear for his immortal soul. He returned to Ireland in the summer of 2002 much as he had left … with no job, no home and some meagre savings.  He lives somewhere in the Irish countryside, where he won’t be heard shouting at his computer. You can check out Oisín’s own website at oisinmcgann.com.
